We are proud to present our design studio CONTRAFORMA which is well known as a contemporary and sophisticated furniture design studio.
Founded in 2000 our company achieved its first significant success with the widely acclaimed “Romance” table range which made its debut at the “100% design” exhibition in London in 2004. Every year we launch a new collection reflecting the latest design trends in Europe. We like to anticipate the latest design trends and we always identify quality of both design and product execution as our watchword. A long-time participant at 100% Design, Contraforma has received excellent evaluations from market experts and exhibition guests alike.
This time along with our customary products we are presenting a new collection entitled “t-rusted”.
The recurring concept in Contraforma’s newest collection is to convert old surfaces into an element of new, modern furniture. The first example of this concept is the MW cabinet, which was produced using authentic old solid wood from a homestead. This was followed by the range T-RUSTED – a minimalist pieces of furniture created from preserved rusted metal. According to Contraforma’s team, time-tested modern furniture has potential to become the newest trend in contemporary design.
The collection consists of:
cabinet range MW, designer Nauris Kalinauskas
Old within new. A unique piece, even the oldest house can be revived with contemporary design- gives a new breath of life to an old favorite space.
The product distinguishes with combined innovative and traditional materials: the frame is made of powder coated, laser-cut metal combined with the natural old solid wood – a touch of purest nature. None the less interesting is the shape - a stylistic mix of decades. An eclectic is brought to a delicate purity. MW is an allusion to antiquity and at the same time it is obviously an object of contemporary design. It comes with a real story of one hundred years original solid wood which at those times was a part of a wooden Lithuanian house.
Materials: materials: frame – powder-coated metal; front – original solid wood.

chair JULY, designer Zilvinas Stankevicius
The chair JULY was created from scraps of different length, which are glued together using a special press and a final outlook is obtained by hand-made dressing. The softwood cut-offs are collected from local window-frame manufacturer, so the designer uses unwanted scraps of timber and with a little creative alchemy turn them into a pretty slick chair.
The recycled material is used as a replacement for many conventional materials, without chopping down trees or otherwise using virgin materials.
This lightweight and eco-friendly piece of furniture is highly suitable for a dining-room.
The chair JULY won the 1st prize at the international design competition [neformate], Litexpo in 2006.
Materials: sofwood, plywood; finish: transparent mat varnish.
light PILLOW, designer Linas Kutavicius
The light is always associated with warmth and softness. That’s because the idea to make light cover from fabric and also give it a shape of a pillow was transformed into the light PILLOW. The light can be placed on the floor, hanged on the wall or used as a chandelier. Surprising shape with the light inside makes it different from other lamps.
The light cover is removable, so it is easy to wash it. The covers are available in different colours, also with custom prints.
Materials: cover – 100% cotton; frame – powder-coated metal.
